TRACK DAY RENTAL F.A.Q.

WHAT SIZE SHOULD I RENT?

HELITE GP AIR vests offer close fitting, aerodynamic protection. To provide the optimum level of chest, shoulder and back protection fit is important.

Use the GP AIR Fitting Guide below, asking someone to help you take the measurements. Most at with your leathers on. Back length is measured without leathers, wearing a t-shirt. This ensures any aero-hump does not interfere with the measurement.
HOW DO YOUR SIZES WORK?

HELITE GP AIR Track and Race vests are not gender specific and are worn by both male and female riders. You must weigh a minimum of 35Kg to wear a HELITE airbag vest.

They are available in Adult sizes:
  • SMALL- for the petite / slim rider
  • MEDIUM
  • LARGE- for the taller / slim rider
  • EXTRA-LARGE- a little taller again and broader
  • L-L (LARGE-LARGE)- for broader riders
  • XL-L (EXTRA LARGE - LARGE)- for tall, broader riders

  • All sizes overlap to some extent.
HOW DO I FIT THE LANYARD?

The Lanyard is easily fitted to the frame of the motorcycle, somewhere central, where the tank meets the saddle. If your saddle is removable, take it off and simply thread the noose end of the lanyard around the motorcycle frame. Pass the clip through the noose, and adjust to length.

    TOP TIP
In most cases you do not need to unthread the pre-formed noose. If space is limited between the frame and say fairing, take some photos as you dismantle, so you know how to rethread.
WILL THE LANYARD DAMAGE MY BIKE?

A properly fitted lanyard will not move or chafe. Some riders whose reach has them close to the tank may find the trigger pull contacts the tank. In these circumstances applying a clear tank protector resolves this issue.
    WHAT HAPPENS IF I CRASH?

HELITE GP AIR Track and Race vests offer the highest level of airbag protection. In the event of an 'off', the vest deploys, inflating rapidly. It is not a closed system and after around 10 seconds will gradually deflate. There is no need to do anything. After being released by the marshalls and medical team, you can reset the vest yourself in the Paddock.
HOW DO I RESET THE VEST?

Follow the instructions contained in the supplied handbook. Take the GP Air off, open the front and unscrew the discharged canister. Place in the recycling. Using the 5mm hex key supplied, unscrew the compression cap around 12mm. Reset the coloured carrier with your finger or hex key. Replace the ball bearing trigger, cover with your thumb and nip up the compression cap. Using the hex key, recompress the internal spring. Locate a new CO2 canister and screw in until it stops. Close the chest armour around the canister.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE VEST IS DAMAGED?

We take a pragmatic view. After any inflation, your rental vest will need to be inspected, and we do make a modest charge for this. If the vest is serviceable, we only charge this fee and for any canisters that you used.

If the vest requires repair, we will provide a repair estimate for you to pass to your insurers, and you will be liable to pay for the repair to be done.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE VEST IS WRITTEN OFF?

Thankfully this does not happen very often, but it can happen. We treat each set of circumstances individually and each case on merit. Ultimately you are liable for a replacement product, but remember that insurance is available for your riding kit at track days.

HOW DO I RETURN MY RENTAL VEST?

Your vest remains 'On-Rental' until it is received back here with us. Please ensure that after your track day you pack in the original packaging and return to us promptly.

It is easiest to return using our couriers who are approved to transport the CO2 canisters.

WARNING!Do not return canisters through the regular post. The Post Office reserves the right to destroy any parcels containing compressed gas, and this can include your rental vest!
CAN I BUY MY RENTAL VEST?

YES ! From time to time, Rental vests are made available for sale, please ask if you would like to do this and we will offer an appropriate price.

We will always let you know if your rental vest is brand new. This is the ideal scenario for you to try before you buy.

If you would like to buy a brand new HELITE GP AIR Track and Race vest, we will refund up to £35 of your rental fees off the price we quote you, allowing you to try-before-you-buy.
CAN I TAKE MY GP AIR ON A PLANE?
IATA regulations allow small CO2 canisters to be packed in your hold luggage, please consult your airline for their guidance. HELITE GP Air vests use similar small capacity canisters to life vests used in sailing.

WARNING! do not attempt to take on as hand luggage. Wearing any vest in an airport is not advisable and likely to draw unwelcome attention.
CAN I PACK MY GP AIR ON THE BIKE STILLAGES?
Yes. If you are shipping your bike to a Euro track day, this is the best approach. Pack the vest along with spare CO2 canisters, handbook and 5mm hex key with your tools and other bike kit.
